Our aim here at The Crest is to offer the highest standards of care in a homely and kind atmosphere. A recent addition to our group, we are currently investing in the home and are refurbishing and redecorating the home extensively in a dementia friendly way, including a dementia friendly garden and even adding a bar to the home, called The Nag’s Head!
Situated on Rutland Drive, The Crest is a large attractive house that has been converted and extended to provide residential care for up to 31 residents. It is very close to the centre of the lovely spa town of Harrogate, and it has a pretty little garden for our residents to enjoy to the side of the main house.
Our food offers a tasty a choice of menu available at every mealtime. We offer an excellent range of individually prepared and nutritionally balanced texture modified meals for residents who have swallowing difficulties and an extensive range of snacks and drinks is available at all times.
Visitors are welcome at any time and if you would like to come and have a meal with your loved-one just let us know.
The information in the ‘types of care’ section of our website is general, and gives an example of some of the conditions and illnesses that we have experience with, however it is by no means exhaustive. In addition it is not uncommon for older people to experience more than one illness- for example a person with dementia may also suffer from arthritis, or have had a stroke.
Each person is an individual with different requirements, and all potential residents are fully assessed to ensure that we are able to meet their individual needs before we offer a placement.
With our experienced care team, we are able to care for people living with many different types of illnesses and conditions. Our staff are well trained and our buildings are designed to help residents to maintain their independence as much as possible. All of our homes have at least one passenger lift and are fully equipped in terms of safety, from individual call buzzers to specialised individual call systems for people who are unable to use their call buzzers.
All of our homes have both communal and quieter, more private spaces for our residents to enjoy, and benefit from many types of aids and adaptations to help our residents live as full and independent a life as possible.
The obvious love and care for all residents adds to the very homely atmosphere, and the manager works hard to ensure that all residents’ needs are catered for.

The Crest is a welcoming home with a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team. It has a calm yet happy atmosphere with soothing music often heard to be playing throughout the home. The staff team’s enthusiasm and level of training ensures that residents are given appropriate support to carry out their day to day activities, especially those who suffer from dementia type illnesses.
To help our residents who are suffering from dementia type illnesses our staff do not wear uniforms and wear pyjamas and dressing gowns for their night shift to help residents know that it is night time.
