One of Wakefield’s premier purpose built care homes. Built in the small village of Old Snydale in 1987, Snydale Care Home was the first purpost built Home in the Wakefield area, and still has the same owners from the time that it was built. We have superb facilities and an excellent reputation in the local community.
Snydale is a comfortable and well maintained home, with a pleasant private garden and ample car parking. We are easily accessible from the M62, and on a regular bus route. The largest home in our group, not onlypurpose built but fully refurbished in 2017, Snydale is bustling, full of life and has a wonderful atmosphere. All of our rooms are en-suite, with the exception of three very high dependency rooms.
Our food is tasty and has a very high nutritional standare with a choice of menuavailable at every mealtime. We offer excellent individually prepared and nutritionally balanced texture modified meals for residents who have swallowing difficulties and an extensive range of snacks and drinks is available at all times.
Visitors are welcome at any time and if you would like to come and have a meal with your loved-one just let us know.
The information in the ‘types of care’ section of our website is general, and gives an example of some of the conditions and illnesses that we have experience with, however it is by no means exhaustive. In addition it is not uncommon for older people to experience more than one illness- for example a person with dementia may also suffer from arthritis, or have had a stroke.
Each person is an individual with different requirements, and all potential residents are fully assessed to ensure that we are able to meet their individual needs before we offer a placement.
With our experienced care team, we are able to care for people living with many different types of illnesses and conditions. Our staff are well trained and our buildings are designed to help residents to maintain their independence as much as possible. All of our homes have at least one passenger lift and are fully equipped in terms of safety, from individual call buzzers to specialised individual call systems for people who are unable to use their call buzzers.
All of our homes have both communal and quieter, more private spaces for our residents to enjoy, and benefit from many types of aids and adaptations to help our residents live as full and independent a life as possible.
My Mum is cared for really well. She has settled in and loves it- she now calls it home which is a great relief to us! The staff are kind, caring and compassionate.

There is always something going on here at Snydale, from visits from local entertainers, in house activities to films, TV and radio shows. There is always something to watch and the staff are always willing to help and they are very caring. Residents here are helped to maintain their dignity at all times and are encouraged to make choices about their day-to-day life.
