Rockingham House is a charming retirement home for older ladies and gentlemen, situated close to the centre of Malton. As we are only registered for 26 residents you will quickly start to feel at home, surrounded by friendly faces you’ll feel as if you’ve known for years!
Situated in a charming residential area of the lovely market town of Malton, Rockingham House is a lovely older style converted house, with a very homely environment, pretty gardens, a choice of residents’ lounges, conservatory with ample car parking.
As the building is Victorian all the bedrooms are different and are full of olde worlde characteristics whilst having all the modern amenities one would expect in a high quality care home.
We offer person-centred care in a homely environment from friendly, well trained, enthusiastic staff, with regular visits from local GPs and a well-equipped medical room.
Our food here at Rockingham is wonderfully tasty and nutritious with a choice of menu available at every mealtime. In addition we offer excellent individually prepared and nutritionally balanced texture modified meals for residents who have swallowing difficulties.
Visitors are welcome at any time and if you would like to come and have a meal with your loved-one just let us know.
We even have a room in which you can stay overnight – just check with us first for availability and details.
The information in the ‘types of care’ section of our website is general, and gives an example of some of the conditions and illnesses that we have experience with, however it is by no means exhaustive. In addition it is not uncommon for older people to experience more than one illness- for example a person with dementia may also suffer from arthritis, or have had a stroke.
Each person is an individual with different requirements, and all potential residents are fully assessed to ensure that we are able to meet their individual needs before we offer a placement.
With our experienced care team, we are able to care for people living with many different types of illnesses and conditions. Our staff are well trained and our buildings are designed to help residents to maintain their independence as much as possible. All of our homes have at least one passenger lift and are fully equipped in terms of safety, from individual call buzzers to specialised individual call systems for people who are unable to use their call buzzers.
All of our homes have both communal and quieter, more private spaces for our residents to enjoy, and benefit from many types of aids and adaptations to help our residents live as full and independent a life as possible.
The staff at Rockingham give care to both residents and their families. It’s nice to be able to talk and laugh about things. They keep me safe and help me cope.

There always seems to be something going on here at Rockingham, from a visit from the local nursery school, an exercise class or just an evening in with a film and a takeaway.
For those who want to take things a little more quietly there are several lounges to choose from, and a lovely conservatory from where residents can sit and enjoy the pretty garden complete with its own pond.
We love to celebrate at Rockingham; everyone receives a birthday cake, an Easter Day service led by a local clergyman,
Christmas presents, and of course the traditional roast Christmas turkey with all the trimmings!
